The Arvin W. Glass Tennessee Masonic Foundation (“Foundation”) is engaged in continuous philanthropic work on the behalf of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Tennessee (MWPHGL). Under the direction of a combined state board of Brothers and Sisters, the Foundation provides assistance and provisions to its subordinate districts, chapters, and lodges. These are some of the re-occurring projects of the Foundation.
The Foundation teams with the MWPHGL’s Deputies to provide assistance to members in Tennessee cities and Municipalities that require emergency assistance. Assistance can include anything from bill pay to small home repairs in emergency conditions.
The Foundation continually teams with local food distributors to provide, meal exchanges and food boxes to meet local and community needs throughout the State of Tennessee.
Coats For Kids is a program adopted by The Foundation that allows children at low SES schools to receive proper coats during the winter months through partnership with local Shelby County Schools, Churches, and leadership throughout Memphis.
Bye effectively using a “boots on the ground” principle, subordinate localized lodges and chapters may use their deputies to assert programing and assistance in their areas. This unique set-up allows the greater Masonic body to address needs that would normally go unheard in our local areas.
The Foundation annually hosts scholarships for the MWPHGL and assistance for matriculating students statewide. These students vary from collegiate level, post graduate level and trade school. The Foundation proudly touts assistance to students at private and public institutions throughout the nation. The Foundation further facilitates this student growth by creating local computer labs and literacy programming to students grade PreK – 12th grade.
